Preface
Everything changes with time, people, nature, human beings and sports. In
the colonial era, the British brought with them a game which was cricket. The
common man had no special interest in this gentleman's game played in white
attire. As the cycle of time turned, these games did not change, but it came in
its new forms. In the seventies, when one-day cricket came to an end. When the
format came, it was liked more in many countries, but when the era of instant
cricket (T20) came, it was as if it was all over the world.
The number of cricket lovers in India is in crores, all through the year,
from international cricket to local level competitions are played in India, but
the trend of people who are towards IPL is not seen in others. But after the advent of quick cricket, now
with two matches in a day and 60 matches in a month and a half, the entire
competition is also over, which is what has made the IPL so interesting and
popular.
What is IPL
Today, a national level cricket tournament is played in every country. Just
like the Lanka Premier League, Pakistan Premier League, BBL, the T20 tournament
played in India is known as the IPL i.e. Indian Premier League. It is the most
expensive, popular and interesting competition in the world run by the Board of
Control for Cricket in India.
Teams representing cities in eight states of India participate. It is held
every year in the months of April and May, with both external and Indian
players being a part of it, and so far 13 editions of the IPL have been played.
Mumbai Indians have the title of becoming the winners the most number of
times, in this case Chennai Super Kings is in the second position. The
competition is broadcast live in India and other countries of the world, the
media rights of which are held by Star Sports and Hot Star.
Most of the IPL events have taken place in India, many times due to poor
domestic conditions, wenyu have also been held in South Africa and Dubai.
India's most popular competition started in 2008, ahead of other cricket
leagues in the world in every respect.
History of IPL
The first major competition of T20 cricket in the world was in the form of
the T20 World Cup in the year 2007. It was under the captaincy of Mahendra
Singh Dhoni that India won the tournament. This marked the beginning of a new
chapter of Indian cricket and the next year
in 2008, the IPL competition began. It was the first edition of the
IPL. In which eight franchises bought
their teams, all the teams chose one icon player and for the rest of the team,
each franchise included the leading players in their ranks and the agreement
was for three years.
IPL 1 – 2008
The first IPL tournament was played
between April 18 and June 1, it was also called IPL One. The tournament was
attended by eight teams and a total of 59 matches were played. The final match
of the first edition was played between Rajasthan Royals and Chennai Super
Kings at the DY Stadium, the visiting team Rajasthan Royals won the match.
IPL 2 – 2009
This was the first time in the history of IPL competition that the venue of
the tournament had to be changed from India. Due to the process of the 2009
elections across the country, it was
considered appropriate for the IPL to be played in South Africa. This season
started on April 18 and the final match
was played on May 24. In the final
match, Deccan Charges defeated Bengaluru to become the winner of the
competition for the first time.
IPL 3 – 2010
The IPL ipl tournament was returning to India again after a season-long
extravaganza, this time the spectators were more intrigued than ever before.
The third season began on March 12 and the final match was played on April 25
between Mumbai and Chennai. This time, the CSK led by Dhoni won the game and
Sachin Tendulkar's team got the title of runners-up. A total of 60 matches were
played.
IPL 4 – 2011
The fourth season in ipl history so far has been very volatile, with ten
teams taking part in the tournament, played between April 8 and May 28, instead
of eight. Two new teams were representing the cities of Kochi and Pune. In the final, Bengaluru had to face
defeat.
IPL 5- 2012
This was the fifth edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL), in which
franchise teams from some 9 cities participated and a total of 76 matches were
played. The final match of the tournament was played on May 27 between the
teams of Chennai and Kolkata, led by Gautam Gambhir, kolkata knight riders
became the first-ever IPL winning team.
IPL 6- 2013
The Pepsi IPL 6 was held in India between April 3 and May
26. In the spot-fixing scandal, many Rajasthan Royals players were banned this
season, while pune warriors were also knocked out in the middle tournament. In
the final match, Mumbai Indians defeated Chennai Super Kings by 23 runs to
clinch the title.
IPL 7- 2014
The seventh edition of the IPL was
played from April 16 to June 1, 2014. This was the second time in the history
of the Indian Premier League that the tournament had to be held outside India.
The Home Ministry played it in the United Arab Emirates on the subject of
internal security due to the Lok Sabha elections across the country. After the
initial few matches, many matches of the IPL were played again in India. It
took place between Calcutta and Punjab, in which KKR won.
IPL 8- 2015
The eighth edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) was played between April
8 and May 24, 2015, with a total of eight teams playing in the tournament. Due to the batting of MI captain Rohit
Sharma, Mumbai won this final match.
IPL 9- 2016
The ninth edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) was played between
April 8 and May 29, 2016. Now Vivo was chosen as the sponsor in place of Pepsi.
The competition is also known as vivo IPL. Yuvraj Singh and Shane Watson were
the most expensive sold players. Gujarat Lions and Rising Pune two new teams
were included this time. The final match
of IPL 9 was won by Hyderabad, This was the franchise's first title.
IPL 10- 2017
The tenth and historic edition of the Vivo IPL was played in India between April
5 and May 21, after ten years of success so far, the IPL became the world's
most popular cricket tournament and became loved in almost all the countries of
the world. Mumbai won the title for the
third time, with the best batsman in the tournament being David Warner and best
bowler Bhuvneshwar Kumar.
IPL 11- 2018
It was the 11th edition of the
Indian Premier League. It is also known as IPL XI. The tournament was played
between April 7 and May 27. Chennai Super Kings and Rajasthan Royals, who are
facing the brunt of the spot-fixing scandal, returned this season and the
rights for IPL broadcasts were bought by Star Sports for $255 billion for the next five years. And
played between Hyderabad, Chennai won the title for the third time, with SRH
captain Kane Williamson scoring the most runs.
IPL 12- 2019
The 12th edition of the Indian Premier League was played in India between
March 23 - May 12. It was held for the first time in India since the Lok Sabha
elections. Delhi Daredevils were renamed as Delhi Capitals this season. David
Warner became the Orange Cape and Tahir Purple cape holders. Mumbai defeated
Chennai by one run in the final match to win the IPL title for the fourth time.
IPL 13-2020
The twelfth season of the Indian Premier League (IPL) was scheduled for
March 29, but due to the outbreak of COVID-19, it was postponed further. The
tournament, which was played without spectators amidst the global pandemic,
will be remembered forever in the history of the IPL. This was the third time in the history of
IPL that it was being held outside India. The winning team of the competition
was Mumbai Indians, this was the team's fifth title, KL Rahul was the highest
run scorer. This time, Vivo was removed from the sponsor and Dream 11 was given
the sponsorship.
IPL 14- 2021
The 14th edition of the Indian Premier League will be played in India
between April 11 and June 6, 2020. Due to the corona epidemic, full ban or
limited permission can be given to the spectators in the stadium. The BCCI
has only 8 teams to play in the IPL this time, with 60 matches to be played
between them, and now one team will be able to have 5 foreign players instead of 4.

titles. IPL 2021 will see the likes of
Du Plessis, Suresh Raina, Ambati Rayudu, Dhoni, Bravo, Santner, Tahir, Deepak
Chahar, Shardul Thakur, Moeen Ali and Cheteshwar Pujara playing for CSK.
Delhi Capitals: India's capital city is the team represented in the Indian
Premier Cricket League IPL, formerly known as Delhi Daredevils. Gmr Group and
JSW Group own the DC. Initially the team was captained by local cricket star
Gautam Gambhir, now Shreyas Iyer is the captain of the team. The journey of the

Lasith Malinga, Harbhajan Singh have been the big star players of this
team. Mumbai Indians Rohit Sharma, Aditya
Aare, Dhawal Kulkarni, Hardik Pandya, Ishan Kishan, Jasprit Bumrah, Pollard, Kunal

Royal Challengers Bangalore: Rcb i.e. Royal Challengers are popular teams
in the Indian Premier League IPL The team has not yet shown any satisfactory
game in the competition. The team is owned by a company called United Spirits.
Bangalore has been in the final three times in the IPL history so far but had
to face defeat each time. Among the star players of the team, Virat Kohli,

Kings XI Punjab: Kings XI Punjab is the franchise team representing the
State of Punjab in India in the Indian Premier League. The team has been
accompanied by Yuvraj Singh, Virender Sehwag and George Bailey in the IPL.
Kings XI team is owned by Preity Zinta, Ness Wadia, Mohit Varman and Karan
Pole. The team's best performance has been till the final in the IPL and the
semi-finals in the Champions League Twenty20.

Sunrisers Hyderabad: The Indian Premier League (IPL) has the Hyderabad

Shankar, Mitchell Marsh, Jason Holder, Mohammad Nabi, Rashid Khan, Shahbaz Nadeem,
Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Khaleel Ahmed, Kedar Jadhav, Mujeeb Ur Rahman etc. are also
big names.
